Liiiiife is too short…

Metronomy toured with Ghostpoet back in April this year and we really seemed to hit it off. We both got shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize and at last night’s Awards ceremony I got a chance to catch up with him. I was reminded of this little edit from the end of my JAND mix for Drownedinsound.

” Life is too short to store up grudges / Life is too long to make no plans.”

Easily my favourite lyric by anyone this year. Stops me in my tracks every time I hear it sung.

The drum break on this edit is taken from a Bloc Party tune… You might hear a bit of Kele screaming in the back there too.

Got a couple of other exciting remixes in the pipeline. They’ll be up here before long.

Little Nigerian-themed mix I did for old pals Drownedinsound as part of their Africa Afternoon a couple of weeks back. Wrote a short article about the mix too which you can read by clicking this.

I grabbed lots of little samples from all over the place, but here’s the basic tracklist:

K’Naan – TIA
Wale feat. K’Naan – TV In The Radio
Rukus feat. Soul Brother – I’m Nigerian
Zee feat. Nosa – Standing
Oyinkansola feat. BrymO – Love Wan TinTin
Bloc Party – Ares
Blak Twang & Silvastone – Survival
Naira – Fly Hustle, Fresh Grind
Vocal Slender – Owo Yapa
Ghostpoet – Liines [OLUGBENGA ARES EDIT]
AKS – House Called Home
